Send me!
My name is Tammi Scimenes, and I am writing to ask you to help me keep a promise I made to God as a little girl.
Even then, I knew what I was called to do. I promised that if God ever gave me the resources, I would go into all the world to make disciples of all nations, and to serve the least, the lost, and the forgotten. Today, I am asking you to help me fulfill that promise.
My calling was not born in comfort. It was forged in the darkest season of my life. Years ago, I walked through a depression and anxiety so deep that I no longer wanted to live. I know what it feels like to have nothing left no hope, no light, no reason to get up in the morning. But God did not leave me there. He brought me out, and I wrote about that journey in my book, And Then There Was Light, so that others in darkness would know that light is possible.
That experience gave me something no seminary could: true compassion for people who have nothing, who are anxious, depressed, and unseen. When I look at the poor and the hurting in Pakistan, I do not see strangers. I see myself, before there was light.
